As many know, when you have a car accident, the first thing you do is to call the insurance company to explain the situation. What usually happens is that the insurer proposes to direct the repair to a workshop with which it has an agreement……..but for a Tesla, is it the same? Can I take my car to any workshop? Here we will explain everything in detail.

The answer is NO. Well, we can’t just take a Tesla car to any garage. We must take it to a workshop approved by Tesla. If among the workshops with which the insurer has an agreement, there is a workshop certified by Tesla, then we will take the car to that workshop and problem solved. The insurance company will take care of everything. But what if not? What do I do?

Well, in this case what you should do is contact Tesla, explain the situation and they will tell you what to do. Most likely they will tell you to go to a Tesla approved body shop (which is probably not part of your insurance company’s body shop network). These workshops called “TESLA approved body shop” can be found on the Tesla website. You will see a list of all the body shops closest to your location. In many cases, when the repair of a vehicle is performed in a workshop without an agreement with the insurer, the customer pays the workshop directly for the repair. With the invoice issued by the garage, the insured claims the payment to the insurer and the insurer pays the repair directly. In short, the only real difference is that the insurer pays the insured instead of the repair shop.
